The main attraction of Madurai is Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple which is one of the India 's greatest cultural and architectural landmarks.

The entire city is laid out in the shape of the lotus. The city is bordered by three hills known as the Yanaimalai meaning elephant, Nagamalai meaning snake and Pasumalai which means cow.
